Dental Solutions
The simple decision that we would provide only optimal services forms the foundation of our office philosophy. All of our decisions reflect off of this touchstone—how we introduce a patient to our practice, how we determine treatment recommendations, how we support a client who needs to phase treatment. All of our decisions are based on the simple question, "does this allow us to provide an optimal service?"
Within this framework, our primary responsibility is to help our clients clarify the level of aesthetics, health, and wellness to which they aspire to. Simply put, how healthy do you want to be? How well do you want to feel? How good do you want to look? Our passion lies in helping our clients achieve their desires.
Providing an optimal service for a new patient dictates a comprehensive evaluation, thorough examination, and informed diagnosis are required. The evaluation begins with an interview, which allows us to develop an understanding of your health history and your primary reasons for entering our practice. We ask basic questions as to future focusing: Where are you now, and where would you like to be at some time in the future? Are you happy with your present aesthetics, with the comfort and function of your mouth? Would you like to improve your smile? Eliminate a full or partial denture? Would you like the peace of mind of knowing that you will keep your teeth for the rest of your life?
A thorough examination encompasses an evaluation of all the elements of form, function, and aesthetics. This would include any indicated x-rays and photos, a set of diagnostic study models, an evaluation of the teeth and occlusion (bite relationship), a full periodontal evaluation, and an evaluation of muscle and joint function. Our experience through the years has told us we cannot provide an optimal service without conducting a thorough preliminary examination.
Following an integration of all the diagnostic materials, a consultation appointment will allow us to leisurely and thoroughly review your present situation, and help you clarify for yourself what your preferred future would be. You might be interested in pursuing a more preventive, holistic orientation to your health. You may have aesthetic or health concerns relative to certain metals in your mouth. You may have a history of progressive breakdown or loss of teeth, and are now concerned about the effect this might have on your health and aesthetics. You might be approaching retirement and feel the desire to reverse the effects of aging, brighten your smile, or seek the confidence and peace of mind knowing that your mouth is healthy and properly restored. You may be interested in smile enhancement or the "instant orthodontics" that porcelain laminates can offer.
Let us help you determine the quality of function and aesthetics you choose to achieve. We welcome the opportunity to show you what could optimally happen for you.
Smile Design
A Smile Design is truly a work of art. The term Smile Design applies to the enhancement of a smile using a combination of methods. A client's eyes, lip line, coloring, gum tissue contouring, and face, are all considered when a new smile is designed for you. Our goal is to redesign your smile so that it fits you, and is beautiful, strong, and natural looking. Computer assisted video imaging allows us to evaluate, change, and instantly preview any desired esthetic changes to your smile. The process begins with a digital picture of your "before" smile. In consultation, your desired cosmetic outcome guides the smile makeover in virtual reality. We can move teeth, replace missing teeth, change unsightly fillings, and optimize aesthetics to transform your smile on the screen. Once you have identified the desired changes and previewed the expected result, you can then decide to proceed with treatment, confident that your aesthetic expectations will guide the final outcome.
Porcelain Veneers & Instant Orthodontics
Improving the function and appearance of your smile, porcelain veneers are conservative restorations which allow us to change the shape, color, or position of a tooth in order to achieve optimal form, aesthetics, and function. A veneer is a thin layer of porcelain, artistically constructed to duplicate the ideal aesthetic properties of a natural tooth. It is then bonded over your minimally prepared natural tooth structure. Typically done to cosmetically improve a smile or correct a bite relationship, laminates offer the finest in aesthetic services available today. For many adults, “instant orthodontics” can be achieved with cosmetic dentistry in 2 or 3 appointments, rather than with 1-3 years of traditional orthodontics. This has significant advantages. The teeth can be straightened, the length of the teeth can be restored back to normal, along with the desired color, shape and contour corrected and balanced to harmonize with your face and smile. In this day and age many busy adults don't have the time or disposition for the multiple office visits required with traditional orthodontics. The option of "instant orthodontics", achieved with cosmetic dentistry and all of its additional advantages certainly is an incredible treatment to consider for the best overall results.
Neuromuscular Rejuvination
Imagine being able to turn back the clock! Neuromuscular rejuvenation involves restoring the teeth, bite, muscles and facial appearance to a more youthful, natural looking beauty at an optimal physiological position. You do not have to be dissatisfied with the way your smile looks. You do not have to be uncomfortable when you chew, awaken in the morning with sore muscles, or live with recurring headaches. The sagging jowls, collapsed faces and facial creases associated with worn teeth and a collapsed bite (often seen in old age) can often be restored non surgically, (a Non-Surgical face lift)! Using computerized technology and an artistic eye, Neuromuscular rejuvenation may be the answer to many of these problems. Simply put, how well do you want to feel and how good do you want to look? Feeling well while feeling good about the way you look positively impacts all areas of your life, from interpersonal relationships to success in business.
Implants
There is very little that could more favorably impact on long-term quality of life than the elimination of a denture or full or partial plate, and re-establishment of an optimally functional bite relationship. Implants allow us to provide replacement teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. Implants also strengthen the underlying bone support, reversing the resorption that occurs under a denture or removable bridge, which is what contributes the most to the aging facial appearance of the denture wearer. With today's technology, no one needs to suffer with the embarrassment of denture adhesives, the instability of teeth that move, or the compromised health that results from ineffective chewing efficiency. Properly planned, the transition from a full or partial denture to a fully implant supported permanent restoration can proceed uneventfully. Since there is no need for you to be without your denture at any time throughout the process, even a spouse has no reason to know of the change.
Porcelain Crowns
The most common crown restoration today placed by most general dentists utilizes a metal lining covered with porcelain. These restorations are not as natural in appearance, because light is not able to pass through a porcelain-metal crown as it does with a natural tooth, resulting in an opaque or flat looking tooth. Oftentimes these traditional crowns leave a dark or gray line next to the gum-line. We offer a natural looking alternative, all-ceramic non-metal crowns! With these newer restorations you will notice the "life-like" appearance that mimics natural teeth and does not produce the black gum line common with so many porcelain-metal crowns.
Neuromuscular Dentistry & TMJ Treatment
TMJ stands for the temporomandibular joint, which is the hinge joint which allows for the movement of the jaws. The real issue is whether we are dealing with a temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMD), also known as Cranio-mandibular dysfunction. With symptoms often masquerading as tension or migraine headaches, sinus trouble, ear infections or tension in the neck, back and shoulder areas, TMD is a result of an imbalance in the interaction of the joint, teeth, and neuromuscular systems. Pain in the joint, sore teeth, noises such as clicking, popping and grating, ringing in the ears, locking of the jaw, clenching or grinding may all be related to TMD. Proper evaluation of the temporomandibular relationship is an essential part of our examination process. Since participating in a year-long residency in Cranio-mandibular dysfunctions in 1984, Dr. Robert Logan has incorporated this knowledge into his comprehensive approach to dental care. Expanding on the traditional mechanical approach to TMD, Dr. Logan has undertaken extensive training in Neuromuscular Dentistry. This recognizes that harmony between the TMJ, the position of the teeth, and the resting length of the muscles are of paramount importance. Using computerized jaw tracking and muscle monitoring instrumentation, the balance of the system may be measured and harmonious functional integration achieved. This determines the optimal jaw position, which then guides treatment objectives. We can often help patients who have had unsuccessful TMJ treatment in the past, which have usually centered on joint manipulation versus neuromuscular harmony. Moreover, all of our treatments are non-invasive and reversible, meaning that we do not proceed to definitive treatment until symptoms are resolved to the satisfaction of the patient.
Metal Free Restorations
The restoration of a tooth to a position of optimal form and function requires a return to the strength and integrity present prior to its breakdown. The restoration or filling material of choice in any given situation should be determined by the degree of decay or breakdown found and the functional demands on the area being restored.
An optimal material would provide internal strength, hardness, wearability and thermal expansion to hot and cold identical to tooth enamel. It would bond internally to return the strength and integrity to the tooth, would offer excellent color matching esthetics and color stability, and would be totally biocompatible. We are pleased to offer the CEREC all-ceramic CAD/CAM System, the most ideal approximation of natural tooth structure available today. The CEREC System allows us to take an optical laser impression of the prepared tooth, design an optimal restoration on the computer interface, and then mill the crown or filling from a solid block of high quality biocompatible tooth colored porcelain ceramic material. This gives us a level of strength and accuracy previously unattainable with laboratory fabricated restorations, and provides wear resistance to bite forces and protection of remaining tooth structure superior to the composite filing material formed directly in the mouth. The restoration is fabricated and inserted in our office in one visit. No second appointment, no temporary restoration, no second injection to numb the area again. The highest quality aesthetic restoration, done in a single appointment, restoring the missing strength and structure, returning the tooth to full integrity, function and aesthetics. The CEREC all ceramic restoration provides a 21st century improvement over the historic 19th century silver amalgam filling.
We have not offered the silver mercury amalgam as a filling material since 1992. While there are controversies today about whether the presence of mercury in silver fillings compromises optimal immune system function and other related health concerns, our decision not to offer this material is based on the superior alternatives available.
Invisalign
Invisalign is a ground breaking alternative way to straighten your teeth without braces. Invisalign uses a series of removable aligners that are virtually invisible, so you don’t have to worry about your appearance and ugly silver brackets. You can take them out for daily necessities like eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing. Comfortable, convenient, and complimentary to your smile, Invisalign is the preferred method of teeth alignment for many patients. Dr. Jessica Logan is certified in the Advanced Level in Invisalign training.
Personalized Periodontics
Chronic mouth odor is a serious concern for the estimated 40 million Americans affected by it. We spend over one billion dollars each year for generic mouthwashes which do not directly address the specific causes of the underlying problem. These mouthwashes offer a false security by masking the underlying agent with a "hint of mint," which is only minimally effective for a short time. Chronic halitosis is caused by specific gram negative bacteria producing volatile sulfur compounds (VSCs), which are directly responsible for the odor. Any attempt to "rinse away" the odor without addressing the bacterial agents and the VSCs will be futile
The bad news is that these nasty bacteria become incorporated into a complex biofilm, which causes a series of destructive changes that damage the teeth, gums and bone support, leading to periodontal disease. Recent research shows that this bacterial invasion can enter the bloodstream, increasing the risks of heart disease, respiratory illness, stroke, diabetes, and pregnancy complications. During early stages, this disease process will respond to a conservative Periodontal Therapy, where the biofilm is disrupted and the tooth surfaces are thoroughly cleaned, leading to a healing process. In moderate to late stages, there is a loss of bone support around the teeth and the development of periodontal pockets where the bacteria are protected and homecare becomes much more difficult. At this stage periodontal surgery is recommended to eliminate the pockets.
We are pleased to offer a minimally invasive (no scalpel, no sutures) laser mediated surgical alternative to traditional resective cut and sew periodontal surgery; Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP™). In this procedure a specific amount of light energy from a special Periolase ® MVP-7 NdYag laser is directed through a small fiber optic fiber, gently placed between tooth and gum. This light energy removes only the diseased tissue and bacterial biofilm on the inside of the pocket, and seals the gum tissue to the tooth, creating a biological “band-aid”. This encourages reparative bone formation and pocket reduction from the base of the pocket up (as opposed to traditional periodontal surgery where the tissue is cut back to a lowered position). LANAP™ is the first FDA approved procedure which has shown bone regeneration, and Dr. Robert Logan is proud to be one of three dentists in New Jersey licensed by Millennium Dental Technologies to perform it.
Teeth Whitening
A common desire of many clients is to have whiter, brighter teeth. When appropriate, cosmetic bleaching is one of the safest and most effective techniques to improve the esthetics of a smile. Whether caused by the external effects of coffee, tea, red wine, smoking, the natural process of aging or internal staining from some antibiotics, or just a natural shading that is unacceptable, bleaching allows us to quickly lighten either individual teeth or an entire mouth.
Providing the privacy and pampering of a spa (not your typical dental office), our dedicated Smile Enhancement Center offers a combination of the in-office BriteSmile whitening procedure and/or customized home use systems tailored to the needs of the individual. Different types of discoloration, the existence of previous dental work, as well as the integrity of the tooth structure and surrounding periodontal structures must always be taken into consideration when deciding which system, or combination of systems, is optimal for any given client. This is why we will never simply sell an over-the-counter bleaching kit to a patient.
Our unique Dental Spa program begins with a complimentary consultation and a personalized computer enhanced aesthetic evaluation! As you’re relaxing with soothing music, fresh cut flowers and aromatherapy to delight your senses...you can enjoy services such as a gentle polishing is followed by the BriteSmile professional teeth whitening process, a remarkable new technology that can safely and gently whiten your teeth to their ultimate natural whiteness in just one visit.
You may also enjoy a gentle irrigating hydro massage of the gums freshens your breathe and invigorates your mouth, while a warmed neck wrap and glass of champagne leaves you feeling relaxed and pampered.
Your unique experience awaits you!

Snoring & Sleep Apnea
Sleep Apnea: Now, Rest for the Weary
Are you tired, stressed out, and moody because of interrupted sleep? Sleep apnea, a condition in which breathing stops for periods of 10 seconds or longer, can interrupt deep sleep that makes people feel rested. Non-surgical dental appliances have proven more effective than surgery for many sleep apnea patients.
What is sleep apnea?
When a sleeping person stops breathing for 10 or more seconds, they have “apnea”. OSAS, or obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, is one type of sleep apnea. Lack of adequate breath during sleep reduces airflow, causing the brain to tell the body to wake up and breathe. In some cases, sleep apnea patients only move into a lighter stage of sleep, while other times, patients wake up completely.
What is the problem?
Many factors may contribute to airway blockage, from the size of the passages and oral and airway structures, to swelling of passageways or position of tongue or jaw. Disrupted deep sleep can affect mood and health, and cause daytime drowsiness. The added stress and fatigue can cause lack of concentration, loss of memory, and accidents in the workplace or while driving. Other health risks include high blood pressure and heart problems, and even a risk of premature death. The sleep apnea patient’s snoring can also disturb a sleeping partner’s rest.
Non-surgical Sleep Apnea Therapies
A few tests can determine if you suffer from OSAS, and non-surgical therapies may alleviate the problem. A nasal mask, (cPAP), can deliver air to keep nasal passages open during sleep. Alternatively, patients may now wear dental appliances that reposition the tongue or mandible, (lower jaw), while sleeping. A Swedish study showed that the anterior mandibular repositioning device, (AMP), is actually more effective than surgical therapies. The same study stated that adverse health effects and appliance repairs were rare.
According to experts, sleep apnea is an under-diagnosed condition, and more men than women suffer. If your sleeping partner says you snore or stop breathing while asleep, or if you experience daytime sleepiness, contact us for a consultation. A sleep apnea device may improve your quality of life. It’s just another way we can help you smile.
Relaxation Dentistry
For patients who have avoided the dentist in the past out of fear of pain or injections, Integrated Dental Aesthetics offers Relaxation Dentistry. This is a one-pill system, which does not involve IV or any other needles.
- Patients have little or no memory of the procedure.
- Years of dental problems can be corrected in just one or two visits.
- Perfect for patients who have difficulty getting numb.
For the extreme dental phobic, we offer Total Sedation Dentistry. This entails an anesthesiologist coming to our office to offer General Anethesia for complex cases.
There is very little that we cannot do to help everyone have healthier teeth and an improved smile.
